SERVICES

Beestman Formulations Consulting brings to you more than thirty years of direct hands-on agricultural formulations development, scale-up experience, product commercialization, knowledge of current literature, patent support strategy, scientific writing and technical leadership. We list below some of those areas of expertise that you may find useful in creating new formulations technology, solving those difficult formulation challenges from current complex chemicals, or creating the product mixtures demanded in today’s formulations.

FORMULATIONS PROBLEM SOLVING

·         Microencapsulation – pioneering patents in commercially viable high concentration microencapsulation meeting cost and high volume constraints of herbicides. We continue to study and apply this technology to formulation of pesticides.

·         Fine particle coating – A more difficult challenge than microencapsulation of liquids, we now have achieved coating of discreet individual micron-size pesticide crystals without aggregation. By coating particle surfaces, the flow properties and formulation composition can be the same for powders of compounds that are very different when uncoated. Chemically unstable compounds can be made more robust for formulating.

·          Novel processes can be developed. Microwave heating a meltable polymer prevented coating of the granulation chamber allowing granulation of powders without a drying step.

·         Compounds susceptible to hydrolysis can be successfully formulated into water, solvents, or water containing WDG compositions.

·         Prevention of crystal formation or control of crystal growth can be achieved in liquid and dry formulations.

HANDS–ON LABORATORY FORMULATIONS

·         Coaching of formulators or direct hands-on formulation in your laboratories is available.

·         Providing unique liquid formulations. Liquid solution, liquid suspension and mixed-phase formulations have been developed. Low cost materials, resistance to wash-off from foliage, and other special properties needed for market viability were formulated into these products.

·         Creating novel solid formulations. Dry solid direct-apply granular and water-dispersible formulations have been created. Wind-resistant large solid granules that were still biologically effective at low doses, or formulating together of incompatible compounds were some of the unique added features.

·         Strong laboratory expertise. Small-scale laboratory processing techniques for extrusion, milling, microencapsulating, and other formulation procedures have been developed.

ACCESS TO NEW TECHNOLOGY

·         We bring access to an extensive network of technology sources.

·         Knowledge of current scientific literature relevant to formulations will be focussed upon your problems and to creation of proprietary technology.
